Terzo Paradiso
TERZO PARADISO, A LIVING INSTALLATION
In collaboration with Galleria Continua, Il Salviatinoโs garden features a living installation of Michelangelo Pistolettoโs renowned โTerzo Paradisoโ (Third Paradise). This botanical interpretation transforms the iconic symbol into a permaculture garden, seamlessly merging art with the natural landscape. Comprising over 3,000 plants, the installation embodies the harmonious fusion of nature and artifice, inviting guests to reflect on humanityโs evolving relationship with the environment.
Michelangelo Pistolettoโs โTerzo Paradisoโ (Third Paradise) embodies a visionary concept aimed at harmonizing the dichotomy between nature and artifice. The artworkโs symbol consists of three interconnected circles: the two outer circles represent nature and the artificial world created by human intervention, while the central circle signifies a balanced synthesis of the two, envisioning a new phase of planetary civilization essential for humanityโs survival.
A realistic utopia
Pistoletto describes this Third Paradise as a โrealistic utopia,โ advocating for a future where technological advancements and natural environments coexist in equilibrium. The installation in Il Salviatinoโs garden, realized in collaboration with Galleria Continua, brings this philosophy to life by integrating art seamlessly into the natural landscape. This living artwork invites guests to reflect on their role in fostering a sustainable relationship between the environment and human innovation, emphasizing personal responsibility in achieving global harmony.
